CHURCH LEADERS

We believe that salvation comes by confession of sin and faith in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, to believe in the heart that Jesus died and rose from the dead, and to proclaim with the mouth that He is Lord. We believe the Old and New Testaments to be the infallible Word of God; inerrant as originally given, verbally inspired by God, the complete and sufficient revelation of His will for salvation and conduct. We believe in the Great Commission; to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth. Amen.
 

Senior Pastor

Bishop Herman D. Ware, Jr. serves as the Senior Pastor of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. Bishop Ware is married to Lady Karla Ware and they have two children. As a church leader, Bishop Ware seeks to preach and teach the Word of God. As a community leader, Bishop Ware seeks to practice what he preaches.

 
 

Lead Elder

Pastor Linda Sawyer serves as the Lead Elder of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. Her primary task is to understand the ministry flow of the senior pastor. In doing so, her gifts and talents are optimized to help oversee specifics areas in Oakley in the same spirit the senior pastor would operate.

 

 

Trustees

Trustee Vicki Potts serves as the Chair of the Trustee Ministry of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. The primary charge of Oakley’s Trustee Ministry is to proficiently administer all assets of the church.  Also, the trustees execute God’s mission through stewardship and overseeing all Standing Committees such as Budget, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, and Legal and Contracts Committees.

 

Diaconate

Deacon Stanley Gates, Sr. serves as the Chair of the Diaconate Ministry of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. The Diaconate support the senior pastor by  serving in congregational care and integrating new members into the fellowship. Their secondary function is to serve as the senior pastor’s immediate advisers and to oversee the membership.

 

Deaconess

Deaconess Evelyn Jones serves as the Chair of the Deaconess Ministry of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. The primary task of the Deaconess Ministry is to partner with the Diaconate in the care of the senior pastor and Oakley. This task lends itself to preparing Communion and assisting with Baptism.

 
 

Pastoral Elders

Bishop Herman D. Ware, Jr. serves as the Lead over the Pastoral Elders of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. The Pastoral Elders are Elder Lois Ross, Elder Linda Sawyer, Elder Jerry Stevens, and Elder Regina Underdown. Oakley members are assigned to specific pastoral elders from the Diaconate when they matriculate out of the New Members Class. From here, Oakley’s Pastoral Elders help the entire membership in their individual spiritual development.
